This quick guide will explain everything you need to know during your stay at the hotel: from how check-in, breakfast, and heating work, to booking excursions or ordering a coffee without even leaving your bed.
🗝️ Check-in & Check-out
▶️ Check-in is from 3:00 pm. However, if your room is ready earlier, our team will be happy to accommodate you in advance.
◀️ Check-out is until 11:00 am. If you’d like to extend your stay by a few hours, please check with reception — we’ll do our best to accommodate you, depending on availability.
If you arrive after recepctions time (00:00 - 7am) please follow this link in order to get to your room by yourself.
📳 Wi-Fi
In this remote corner of Patagonia, where nature reigns supreme and connectivity is a luxury, we offer two sources of Wi-Fi… because even to disconnect, a little connection comes in handy.
🔹 Telefónica del Sur
Delivered via a link from the other side of the lake, in Puerto Cárdenas. This is our backup network, providing a modest speed of 15 Mbps, perfect for basic tasks (think: sending an email, not uploading a Netflix movie). It has the best coverage in the rooms.
🔹 Starlink
Our ace up the sleeve. High speed and greater stability, especially in the restaurant and bar. For a faster connection, bring your thermos, mate, or laptop and enjoy both good signal and even better views.
📵 In the rooms, Wi-Fi works… but let’s just say: enough to read this message, but not for a 4-hour streaming session. Partly intentional, because we believe the real luxury is falling asleep to birdsong, not WhatsApp notifications.
🔥 Heating
Yelcho in Patagonia was originally conceived as a summer hotel, designed for enjoying temperatures between 15 °C and 25 °C. As the hotel was built several years ago, thermal insulation is not ideal, and keeping a comfortable temperature during colder days can be challenging… a challenge we take very seriously.
🔥 Wood-burning heating
Much of the hotel is heated with wood, a natural and comforting source we use in both individual stoves and the central boiler.
🛢️ Oil-fired boiler
On the coldest days, we also activate an oil-fired boiler that powers the radiators. This system works most intensively at night, roughly from 9:00 pm until the following morning.
⚡ Electric boosters
If you feel you need a little extra warmth, you can request an additional electric heater from reception. They are available on demand and usually sufficient to complement the existing heating.
Our team does everything possible to keep the hotel warm and cosy, but some days the Patagonian weather asserts itself. On such occasions, we appreciate your understanding… and remind you that silence, a warm blanket, and an old-fashioned hot water bottle (available at reception) are all part of the charm of staying at the end of the world.
🧼 Laundry
Our hotel offers a laundry service for your convenience. You will find a laundry bag in your wardrobe. You can use it to place clothes you wish to have washed and leave it in a visible spot for our housekeeping team to collect during cleaning. To speed up the process, you may also hand it directly to reception.
🧼 Estimated turnaround:
Due to the cold and humid climate, laundry may take a little longer than usual. Generally, if you leave your clothes before noon, they will be ready by noon the following day.
🛏️ Short stays:
If your stay is less than two nights, we recommend checking with reception before requesting the service to ensure we can meet the estimated timeframe.
